Each of the three players is dealt 12 cards from a standard 52-card deck. The dealer gets 13 cards and leads the first discard to start the game.
On your turn, draw from the stock pile or pick up the card another player discarded. Then discard one card from your hand. Build sets (3–4 of a kind) and runs (3+ consecutive same-suit cards).
Lay down your completed sets on the table (meld). You can also "dump" or add cards to opponents' existing melds to reduce the cards in your hand.
If you empty your hand completely, you declare "Tong-its!" and win outright. If the stock pile runs out, everyone reveals their remaining cards — lowest total point value wins the round.
A player can call "Fight!" to challenge another player's Tong-its declaration. If the challenger has a lower or equal hand count, the Tong-its call is invalid. Timing your challenge correctly is one of the deepest skills in the game.
